Wishcasting Wednesday

Posted by Anna Fernando on Thursday, February 25, 2010, In : Inspiration

I follow Jamie Ridler's blog on a weekly basis. I have been reading Wishcasting Wednesday for a month now but never participated until today. Each Wednesday, Jamie posts a question or a prompt on her blog and her readers write the answers to her question on their blog.

Jamie asks this week, "What do you give yourself permission for?"

So, I, Anna, wish myself to give permission to:

Write with an open heart about my own life experiences without censoring myself.

Do whatever makes ME happy.

Do n...

DIY Postcards

Posted by Anna Fernando on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, In : Inspiration

I mentioned in a previous blog posting that I am infusing creative time in my schedule.  In January, I made Valentine cards.  When I saw iHanna was having a Postcard swap, I emailed her in a heartbeat.  I made ten postcards and since Valentine's Day was coming up, I made them all into a Valentine theme. I love the significance of Valentine's Day but do not necessarily agree that it is a one day holiday.  Instead, we can make everyday Valentine's Day.   I know that I probably sound cheesy but ...

My Creative Time

Posted by Anna Fernando on Wednesday, February 10, 2010, In : Inspiration

I noticed last year that I had difficulty being creative and writing about my feelings and thoughts.  Had I become a robot? Am I walking around unconscious of my world and who I am?  Was I losing my mind? Yes, I was losing my mind - my right brain to be exact. The right brain houses the intuitive center, focuses on images and processes ideas simultaneously, no sense of time and much more. You can read more about the right brain versus left brain here.

Losing my creativity or n...

Inspiration Board

Posted by Anna Fernando on Friday, February 5, 2010, In : Inspiration

The picture above is my inspiration for my blog inside of my Dream journal.  A picture speaks a thousand words so I wanted to explain my thoughts behind the pictures.  My blog is about health and wellness so I hoped I capture this theme in my inspiration board.

Statue of Liberty:  I live in NY so it is only appropriate that I placed this landmark on my inspiration board.  Not only does Lady Liberty signify freedom, but I love the history behind the Statue and what she represents for New...

Well, it is the first day of February.  February is National Heart Month and Valentine's Day, my favorite holiday. I love hearts, the colors red and pink and everything about Valentine's Day.  The heart is my favorite part of the body. This is where we feel love.  I am definitely a romantic at heart.  I thought it would be appropriate to concentrate on this month's theme on LOVE.

Everyone wants and needs love. It is...

Temple of the Soul

Your Body is the Temple of the Soul

image found via kindovermatter and originally uploaded by joy rebel

You are only given one body in this lifetime.  Honor it. Whether you are fat, skinny, tall, short, petite, athletic, strong, or weak.  Accept it.  Imagine your body is a temple and imagine the foods that you put inside your body that nourishes your soul.  Embrace your body.  Love your body.  Be comfortable with your body.  Your body is beautiful.

John Holland says it magnificently, "If we cou...

NYU Community Helping Haiti

Posted by Anna Fernando on Tuesday, January 26, 2010, In : Inspiration

I am so proud to be a part of the NYU community.  The NYU Medical Center is helping Haiti by assembling a group of physicians who volunteered their time and skills. Dr. Robert Grossman, Dean and CEO, wrote an email to the NYU community about this project.  "Dr. Fritz Francois, Dr. Patricia Poitvien, Dr. Mona Rigaud, and Mekbib Gemeda, assistant dean for diversity affairs and community health, have been working together to create NYULMC-HEART (Haitian Effort and Relief Team). With support from...

My 2010 Goals

Posted by Anna Fernando on Friday, January 22, 2010, In : Inspiration

Goals 2010 found in Etsy via abcande

I'd like to share my goals on my blog rather than keeping it private in my journal.  I wrote these goals down in December 2009 and realized there is power in sharing it with everyone.  Writing down goals, plans, and intentions on paper or computer help to manifest them faster.  Plus, it will help to remind me of my goals and to move in the right direction.  Every three months I will re-evaluate my goals so they are aligned with my values.  To distingu...

Creative Everyday: Body

Posted by Anna Fernando on Tuesday, January 12, 2010, In : Inspiration

My vision board of "Body"

I am a totally left brain person.  I am analytical , logical, sequential, and objective.  I used to be right brain  when I was young.  I loved art, drawing, writing, and being creative.  What happened to the right brained -turned left brain person? Well,  I went to college, passed my nursing boards, worked in the clinical setting for several years, got my Master's degree and then joined the rat race of corporate America.  That's what happened.

I realized last year tha...

Yesterday, I wrote about my own cultural New Year's rituals. Today, I will share other rituals from different religions and culture.  Again, I want to thank Michelle Pessin, life coach specializing teachers and special needs children, for the inspiration.  Thanks, Michelle!

Rituals that have personal meaning for you makes the BEST rituals. It helps you to consciously clear your mind, FOCUS,  and to move forward to the new year and...

My friend and fellow life coach, Michelle Pessin emailed me an article called rituals the other day and I was inspired to write this post about it.  Rituals.  What is it?  Some people associate rituals in religious ceremonies.  Another definition of ritual is "any practice or pattern of behavior regularly performed in  a set manner".  This posting will be about cultural rituals but there are many other types of rituals such as Cleansing Rituals, Rituals of Closur...

3rd Day Before Christmas

On the 3rd day before Christmas, my life coach gave to me.... a meditation by Lou-is Hay....

Holidays are happy times for me

by Louise Hay

Religious and civil holidays are times to celebrate with friends and reflect upon the processes of life.  I follow my inner voice through each holiday, always knowing that I am in the right place at the right time, doing the right thing for me.  I have fun at parties and holiday get-togethers.  I know how to have a good time and be responsible and safe,...

8th Day Before Christmas

Posted by Anna Fernando on Friday, December 18, 2009, In : Inspiration

I had the opportunity to meet Don Miguel Ruiz, author of The Four Agreements, last May in New York City.
This picture was taken on May 12, 2009 at the Meta Center in New York.

On the 8th day of Christmas, my life coach gave to me.....a quote from Don Mi-guel Ruiz.....

Quote from Don Miguel Ruiz from his book Voice of Knowledge:

"Light is the messenger or carrier of life because light is sending information all the time to everything in existence."

"Light is a living being that contains all of t...

INSPIRATION

I have found the happiest people are those who do the most for others.

Don't fear your failure so much that you refuse to try new things,  The saddest summary of a life contains three descriptions:  could have, would have, and should have.

Extraordinary people survive under the most terrible circumstances and they become more extraordinary because of it.
